Greens Councillor Irene Doutney, Greens MP David Shoebridge and Former City
of Sydney Councillor John McInerney will speak about the urgent need for
more affordable housing in Sydney. The event is at Barangaroo, the site of
the state’s largest development which is also a landmark failure when it
comes to affordable housing.


The state government is making no attempt to ease housing stress or protect
affordable housing in Sydney. This week the parliament considered a
planning bill that contains no mechanisms for delivering affordable housing.



The Barangaroo development signifies everything that is wrong with Sydney’s
housing market; it is a playground for the wealthy and allocates only a
tiny 2.3% of developable GFA as affordable housing.
