M2 motorway expansion a toll bonanza without public transport planning

The expansion of the M2 Motorway will only add to Sydney's congestion problems while being a bonanza for the toll road operator, according to Greens MP and transport spokesperson Cate Faehrmann.

"This is a clear case of inducing more traffic for private profit," said Ms Faehrmann.

"It is a complete failure of transport planning that there are no performance targets for bus services or bus patronage. 

"The community of North Western Sydney are desperate for public transport services and strategies to improve air quality but the government just continues to build toll roads and encourage vehicle use.

"The Greens are calling for a single government agency to plan for Sydney's transport needs. 

"It is not too late for the government to modify the M2 plans to get a better public transport outcome for North West Sydney," Ms Faehrmann said.
