The Tasmanian Greens today in Parliament continued to pressure the
Bartlett Labor government to urgently act to protect the health and
safety of the 3000 patients of Dr Paul McGinity whom have been left
without the services of their Doctor as a direct result of the
precipitous actions of the Medical Council of Tasmania.

Greens Member for Bass Mr Kim Booth said today that he was shocked at
the callous disregard shown by Minister Giddings for the Health and
safety of patients in the North East who have lost their doctor, and who
advised patients to just ring triple zero.

"What is it that this disinterested Bartlett Labor government doesn't
get about the serious concerns of, and risks faced, by Dr McGinity's
North East patients?"

"I directed a serious question to the Minister about patient health and
safety and requested details of what her government has done to assess
the risk and what has been put in place to rectify it, and all I get is
a load of waffle that goes everywhere but to the point," Mr Booth said.

"These patients are good Tasmanians many of whom are now frail, elderly
and vulnerable, but all the Minister can advise is for people to ring
triple zero."

"That is callous and unacceptable."

"Minister Giddings has publicly stated that she doesn't want the job,
but she is still the current Minister and must act."

"Labor will need to call more than triple zero at next March's election,
when the long suffering public will have the opportunity to give the job
to some one who actually wants it," Mr Booth said.
