The Tasmanian Greens today called on Human Services Minister Lin Thorp
to reveal how many Tasmanians living with a disability are currently on
the waiting list for Individual Support Packages (ISP), after Advocacy
Tasmania revealed that the delivery of ISP's to new clients appears to
have stalled in recent months.

Greens Health and Human Services spokesperson Cassy O'Connor MP said the
ISP waiting list used to be published on the Departmental website, but
this practice ceased about 18 months ago without explanation, leaving
those on the waiting lists with no idea as to when they may finally
receive a package.

"Minister Thorp must reveal how many people are currently stuck on the
ISP waiting list, what the average waiting time is, and why the delivery
of new ISP's has slowed to a crawl in recent months," said Ms O'Connor.

"Why is it that the details of the people waiting for ISP's, often for
long periods in considerable discomfort, are no longer being published
on the Department of Health and Human Services website."

"There is nothing 'kind and clever' about denying Tasmanians who are
living with a disability, not to mention keeping them in the dark about
their prospects of ever receiving such a package. The Bartlett
Government must immediately commit to increasing the rollout of ISPs for
Tasmanians living with a disability, and to publishing the waiting list
details on the DHHS website," said Ms O'Connor.
