Greens Stand By Right to Strike
The Australian Greens remain committed to the age old tradition of workers right to strike.
"We will hold firm in the Senate to ensure workers basic rights are restored in industrial relations legislation," said Greens spokesperson on industrial relations Senator Rachel Siewert today.
"I'm amazed that the Labor Party are not supporting this key element of workers rights. Workers must have the right to withhold their labour when their wages and conditions are under threat, and to protest issues that affect the safety and security of our way of life."
"Fancy having to ask your boss if you can protest and take strike action."
"The Greens also support unfair dismissal laws for all workers, and the right to collective bargaining. We oppose secret ballots and will amend any legislation introduced into the Senate to reflect this," she concluded.
