Victorian Greens leader Greg Barber says the Health Minister is failing in
his duty to protect the health of the people of the Latrobe Valley during
the Hazelwood mine fire crisis.
"In question time today, I asked the Minister what practical assistance
he's offering. The answer was, not much, apart from a few advertisements
and announcements."
"I asked him if he could offer accommodation or relocation assistance,
indoor air quality checks, time off for affected government workers or
compensation for economic losses. I got no meaningful response."
"Having visited Morwell on the weekend, I'm really worried about the
impact this is having on the health of people, especially children and
those with existing illnesses. This crisis could be going on for weeks."
