Rally for the Rail: Federal and Greens NSW MPs Travel to Newcastle, Join Community Rally to Save the Newcastle Rail Line (14/12)
Australian Greens Spokesperson for Transport & Infrastructure, Senator Janet Rice, and Greens NSW MP and Spokesperson for Roads and Transport, Dr Mehreen Faruqi MLC, will travel from Sydney Central Station on Sunday (14/12) and be available for a media conference at 6:45am in front of the Railway Square entrance of Central station before departing on the 7:15am train (third carriage) to Newcastle. They will be joined by supporters of the Newcastle Rail Line at Central Station and along the way.
They will then hold a media conference outside Newcastle Station at 10:15am on arrival before proceeding to the 'Rally for the Rail' at Pacific Park at 10:30am where they will be speaking.
Both Senator Rice and Dr Faruqi have been consistent critics of the Government's plan to cut rail to heart of Newcastle, which will drive down public transport usage and benefit only property developers.
