Greens claim second seat in Victoria

ACT Greens MLA, Shane Rattenbury has again congratulated the Victorian Greens on their further success out of the Victorian election.

"Sam Hibbins has won the seat of Prahran, the second seat for the Greens in the Lower House," said Mr Rattenbury.

"The Stonnington Councillor beat incumbent Liberal MP Clem Newton-Brown by 262 votes, the first time the Greens have taken a seat from the Liberal Party in Victoria.

"Sam has big plans for dynamic and forward-thinking Victoria with a particular focus on public transport and restoring trust and integrity to the planning system by banning developer donations.

"It is clear that the Green voice is strong in Victoria as there looks to be an increase in representation in the upper house, possibly moving from 3 to 5 members.

"We have seen historic swings all over Victoria and we've just made history twice by electing our first two lower house MPs in the state. People are looking for something different in politics - integrity, transparency and fairness - and that's what the Greens will deliver," said Mr Rattenbury.
