GREENS ON ABBOTT’S REFERENDUM WRECKING BALL

 “The Australian public should rise above Tony’s Abbott’s wrecking ball and support the recognition of local government in our Constitution,” Australian Greens Leader Senator Christine Milne said.

“It’s disgraceful that Tony Abbott is destroying support for the local government referendum but it was obvious in the parliament that the Coalition was going to do this.

“Every local community knows the importance of Commonwealth funding going straight to local government. Mr No cannot be allowed to compromise our communities’ ability to access much needed funding.

“The Australian Greens will campaign with local government around the country for a yes vote.”
