PRESS CONFERENCE: Ethical Family Building Through Surrogacy


Dr Kim Bergman, US-based surrogacy specialist, will speak to the press
ahead of making a presentation to members of the NSW Parliament to
educate them about ethical issues related to family building through
surrogacy in the United States.
 
Surrogacy laws in NSW took a backward turn in 2010 when years of
careful consultation and law-making where turned on their head via a
last-minute ill-considered amendment.

Who: Dr. Kim Bergman, a leading United States Psychologist specializing
in surrogacy and egg donation, Stephen Page, an accredited family law
specialist with the Brisbane law firm Harrington Family Lawyers, and
Kelly Rummelhart, a U.S. based surrogate who has helped 3 families with
the birth of their children.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS: (from the invitation)
 
Dr Kim Bergman, psychologist and counsellor, is the co-owner of one of
the world's oldest and largest surrogacy clinics, Growing Generations in
Los Angeles. Dr Bergman will talk about the practice of ethical
surrogacy in the United States. 
 
Stephen Pageis a partner of the Harrington Family Lawyers, Brisbane. An
accredited family law specialist, Stephen has advised clients throughout
Australia and overseas about surrogacy. Stephen is a member of the
Fertility Society of Australia and the American bar Association's
surrogacy committee. Stephen will talk about the Australian experience
of surrogacy, including for those seeking children by surrogacy in
Australia and overseas.
 
Kelly Rummelharthas had the joy and privilege of being a surrogate
three times, delivering two sets of twins and a singleton for couples
throughout the US and overseas. She will share her experience.
