[Greens-Media] Give paramedics basic human dignity - Hartland

Greens MLC Colleen Hartland has called on Mr Brumby to give paramedics the 
"basic human dignity" of a life-saving rest between work shifts.

"I can't believe MICA paramedics have had to threaten to resign to get 
what everyone else takes for granted - a decent rest break between work 
shifts," said Colleen Hartland MLC

"I've been told by some paramedics there are days when they get as little 
as five hours sleep, once overtime and travel time are taken out of their 
eight hour break."

"Paramedics don't take action lightly.  They are operating machinery, 
driving vehicles and saving lives when they are fatigued.  Fatigue kills. 
They are taking this action to save lives," said Ms Hartland
