"The economy in South East NSW cannot endure continued logging of
native forests.
"The loss of habitat and resulting increase in greenhouse gases is
unacceptable.
"In Parliament yesterday the major parties blocked debate of a Greens
motion seeking an end to the logging of native forests in South East
NSW.
"The Greens called on the government to end woodchipping in South East
NSW, refuse the establishment of the biomass energy plant and prepare a
restructuring and training package for chip mill workers and management
to assist the full transition to plantation resource.
"The Rees government notched up another failure this week but not
recognising that stopping native forest logging in South East NSW is
urgent.
