Developers Pour Money Into ALP Coffers As Planning Laws Get Shake Up
NSW property developers have poured millions of dollars into the
coffers of the NSW Labor Party over the last twelve months as the NSW
Labor government prepares to undertake a complete overhaul of the NSW
planning laws to reduce local council planning powers and speed up
development approvals.
The push for the changes to the planning laws has been led by the NSW
Urban Taskforce. Companies represented on the Executive Committee of the
Taskforce have massively increased donations to the ALP in the last
twelve months at the same time as the Taskforce has pursued an
aggressive push to have the state’s planning laws made more developer
friendly.
NSW Greens MP and planning spokesperson, Sylvia Hale said:
“Developers do not make political donations out of altruism. They
will be looking for a return on their investment, yet the government
wants us to believe that the massive increase in developer donations to
the Alp and Frank sartor’s push to strip back community involvement in
planning decisions are unrelated.”
“it is very clear that the government’s rewrite of the planning
laws will deliver the sort of developer free-for-all that NSW hasn’t
seen since the 1970s.
