The Tasmanian Greens today welcomed the swearing in of new Greens'
Member for Denison, Cassy O'Connor, saying that the occasion was made
all the more special by the fact that Ms O'Connor is the first Member to
be sworn in to the State Parliament in a sitting session held outside
Hobart.

Greens Leader Nick McKim MP said that Ms O'Connor will prove a committed
Member for Denison and a fierce advocate for Tasmania and Tasmanians,
and one who will continue to build the strong Greens reputation in
Denison, established by Peg Putt and Bob Brown.

"The official swearing in of Cassy O'Connor was a special occasion for
the Greens' Parliamentary team, made all the more so by the historic
nature of it occurring in Launceston, the first time since the
Parliament was established in 1856 for a new Member to be sworn in
outside Hobart," Mr McKim said.

"Watch out! Not only will Ms O'Connor be a fantastic addition to the
House of Assembly, but she will be a dedicated and fierce advocate for
our unique state, it's environment, and for the welfare of Tasmanians."

"Ms O'Connor will deliver her inaugural speech tomorrow afternoon during
the Greens' Private Members Time, and we look forward to hearing her
outline her inspirations and her goals on behalf of the Greens and the
electorate of Denison."
