Peak oil and climate change forum:
‘Oil Proofing Sydney’
What: Public Forum on peak oil and climate change to explore how the
fossil fuel crisis will reshape Sydney
When: 12:30 – 2:00pm, Wednesday 26 September 2007
Where: Jubilee Room, NSW Parliament House, Macquarie St Sydney
Speakers:
Federal Greens Senator Christine Milne
Dr Gary Glazebrook, transport consultant and urban planning lecturer at
UTS Sydney
John Stott, Partner in ‘Strategic Transport Advisers’
This week the price of oil hit an all-time high, trading above US$82
per barrel. Higher oil prices are already starting to bite. People
living in Sydney are under pressure from rising food and petrol costs
and poor public transport. The knock on effect of peak oil, rising
petrol prices and global warming will transform Sydney and NSW in the
coming decade.
At this forum, peak oil experts and urban planning and transport
planners will debate the way forward – how we can reshape our urban
environments and our public transport systems for a sustainable future.
