Destruction of wild habitats will continue - Brown
Clearfell logging and burning of Tasmania's native forests will continue
despite today's announcements, Greens Leader Bob Brown said today.
"The plight of endangered nesting species like the giant Tasmanian
Wedgetail eagle and swift parrot will become worse as more unnecessary
destruction of forests and nesting trees continues at a rate of
thousands of hectares per year," Senator Brown said.
The state and federal government must join the Greens to end logging of
wild habitats and base the industry on the 1.7 million hectares of
plantations which afford all the nations wood needs, including for
building and paper.
