Labor should preference Greens in Senate - Greens

Labor should preference the Greens in the Senate in order to avoid a
hostile Senate if Kevin Rudd becomes Prime Minister, Greens leader Bob
Brown said today. (see today's Herald Sun: Union seeks Greens deal"
today).

"I know that unions as well as many workers and community organisations
want Labor to avoid its huge tactical blunder last election when it gave
preferences to Family First. The problem is that some Labor strategists
have not learned from 2004," Senator Brown said.

"We have been rebuffed by the strategists in getting such an agreement
from Labor," Senator Brown said.
