Minister Andrews should respect the Courts.

Australian Greens Senator Kerry Nettle condemned Minister Andrews'
decision to cancel Dr Haneef's visa and seek to detain him in
Australia's immigration detention system after he has been granted bail
during a protest held outside the Immigration Department in Sydney
today. 

"Minister Andrews should leave the judiciary to make decisions about Dr
Haneef's liberty and stop his political interference," Senator Nettle
said.

"Immigration detention is not meant to be a jail of last resort when the
government doesn't like a court's decision," 

"Minister Andrews has decided to pre-empt the court case and punish Dr
Haneef by revoking his visa. 

"Minister Andrews' reliance on unpublished information undermines
confidence in his decision making process.

"The Government's actions have slandered Australia's international
reputation and continue to do so while Minister Andrews makes Dr
Haneef's fate a political football," Senator Nettle said.
