Make PET scans available now: Delays cost lives

PET scans have been known to be safe and clinically effective since
2000. The delay in making them available to cancer patients is costing
lives and wasting millions of dollars in unnecessary and inappropriate
treatment.

Australian Greens Senator Christine Milne will call on the Federal
Government to immediately make PET scans available on the Medicare
schedule. State Governments should also immediately fund the roll-out of
PET scanners in major public hospitals across Australia.
