PM is cheating voters on economics of climate change - Greens

Greens Leader Bob Brown today welcomed Labor's Climate Change Review,
but said that the post-election report will do zero to inform voters at
this year's election.

"An analysis of the economic impact of climate change in Australia is
vitally important. Prime Minister Howard is cheating voters by not
having done this work before the election," Senator Brown said.

"The cost to the nation of the Howard government's 'lost decade' - a
period of failure to act on climate change and to actively worsen it
through accelerated coal exports and burning of old-growth forests -
will cost the nation many billions of dollars through worsening climate
change.

"We already know that acting now will cost less than trying to mop up
the mess in 2050.

"The Greens will do all we can to provide information to public which
the big parties don't want voters to have on their way to the ballot box
this year," Senator Brown said.
