What's the cost of school closures and who pays?


ACT Greens MLA Deb Foskey has called for the ACT Government to release
all the analysis it has done on the social impact of its planned school
closures.

"Save Our Schools has again raised concerns that the families and kids
with the least resources will be worst affected by the Towards 2020
plan" Dr Foskey said today.

"So far the Government's response has been to launch personal attacks
against those people raising concerns, or dismiss the issue with a bland
statement that every student affected will get special attention."

"This is too serious a matter for the Government to pretend that such
flip responses are sufficient."

 "Towards 2020 has clearly been rushed into place. It includes a
Clayton's 'consultation' process with schools at the worst possible
time, and puts demands on teaching and departmental staff that are close
to unsupportable."

"The Education Minister must show us how he has considered the social
impact of this disastrous plan or admit that he hasn't done the work" Dr
Foskey said.
