ORGAN WELCOMES RENEWED FUNDING FOR MIGRANT RESOURCE CENTRE

Cunningham MP Michael Organ has welcomed funding of almost $300,000 for
the Illawarra Migrant Resource Centre for the period 1 July 2004 to 30
June 2005.

"I have received a letter from Minister for Citizenship and
Multicultural Affairs Gary Hardgrave which says he is offering IMRC a
total of $299,159 plus an additional 10% to cover GST", Mr. Organ said
today.

"Minister Hardgrave says the funding is subject to IMRC agreement to,
and compliance with, a service agreement which covers a number of
specific outcomes and my office will be working to ensure that those
outcomes are ones which the Illawarra Migrant Resource Centre believes
to be appropriate to the invaluable work which they undertake."

"I trust also that the funding announced by the Minister includes an
amount to cover rental costs for the IMRC premises in Kembla Street in
Wollongong."

"That is an essential component of ensuring that the centre can continue
its fine work on behalf of our extensive migrant community", Mr. Organ
said.
