Poll high for Greens


Today's ACNielsen poll in The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald showing
the Greens on 10% and 63% disapproval of the war in Iraq shows growing
voter confidence in the third party, Greens Senator Bob brown said in
Los Angeles this morning.

"I am very pleased. We are ready for an election and, on this poll,
would pick up more Senate seats and, I think, retain Cunningham,"
Senator Brown said.

"The Greens long, strong opposition to the Howard government's
unnecessary involvement of Australians in Iraq is being validated, as is
our budget stand for funding health and education rather than tax cuts."

Senator Brown said he will be meeting Major Mori, the lawyer for David
Hicks, as well as civil rights representatives in Washington where he is
attending a global Greens conference on Wednesday.
