Government's dismissal of HREOC's report "bloodyminded child neglect"


The Greens have slammed the government's dismissal of the HREOC report
today as bloody-minded and deliberated child neglect.

"These are real, living, warm-blooded little kids. This report confirms
the damage Mr Ruddock's razor wire detention has caused them and says it
must stop immediately. But the minister insists this mistreatment, with
its outcome of mental damage to the kids, will continue," Greens Senator
Bob Brown said today.

"This government's mantra of family friendly is a fraud as far as these
kids go.

"The hundred and fifty children still locked up by the Howard government
should be freed with their parents," Senator Brown said.
