ORGAN URGES SUPPORT FOR CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

Cunningham MP Michael Organ has written all Senators and members of the
House of Representatives urging them to show their support for people
living with Myalgic Encephalopathy /Chronic Fatigue Syndrome during
ME/CFS Awareness Week.

"As someone who has suffered from the condition I am only too aware that
the myriad of symptoms associated with ME/CFS may make the simplest
task, such as sitting, physically and mentally challenging", Mr. Organ
said

"People with ME/CFS regularly deal with doctors, families, friends and
acquaintances who are dismissive of the serious physical symptoms or
misattribute them to psychological problems."

"Research has shed some light on ME/CFS but there is still a significant
deficit in medical knowledge regarding the condition."

"I have sent an ME/CFS information kit prepared by the Wollongong ME/CFS
Support Group in my electorate to all my parliamentary colleagues,
together with a blue lapel ribbon which I am urging them to wear on
Wednesday 12 May to mark ME/CFS Awareness Day", Mr. Organ said.
