Greens to question Carr about chlorine risk


Greens MP Lee Rhiannon said today that the Greens will use the Upper House to pursue Premier Bob Carr over what he did as Planning and Environment Minister to cover up the health risks of the Botany Bay Orica chlorine plant.

Ms Rhiannon said, "The Government knew of the extreme health risk so the question Bob Carr has to answer is what he did about it. 

"The Greens support calls by the Opposition for an updated risk assessment of the area.

"The Labor Government has shown contempt for the residents of Botany because it is a safe Labor seat. 

"Bob Carr's cover-up of the plant's dangers is the same sort of spin control that has become his trademark as Premier.

"We will pursue the Government with questions in the Upper House," said Ms Rhiannon.
