Brown Slates Kemp's Sell-out to Washington


Greens Senator has condemned Environment Minister Kemp's sell-out to
Washington on climate change.

"The Climate change partnership program signed between the US and Australia
today amounts to a complete abandonment of any real action to address
greenhouse gas emissions," Senator Brown said.

"Kemp's first big act as Minister for the Environment is to endorse the
Australia coal and US oil industry opposition to mandated pollution control
laws.

"Last year I said that on climate change we have a choice between present
President Bush and our grandchildren. Clearly the Howard Government has
chosen Bush.

 "This approach to greenhouse gas emissions be very unpopular and will cost
the country dearly in economic and employment terms.  Australia is missing
the environmental technology bus which is going to lead a technology
cavalcade in the 21 century.

"Mr Kemp is shaping up as the gummy shark in the environment ocean," Senator
Brown said.
