Greens launch "Administrator Watch" to keep a close eye on Baird’s handpicked Council Administrators

Today the Greens are launching "Administrator Watch", an online page to monitor and report on Baird’s handpicked and unelected Council Administrators.

Baird’s chosen Administrators include members of the National Party, former Delegates and Departmental Bureaucrats. None of the Administrators were elected by any one of the local communities they are now running.

The Government’s shambolic forced amalgamation process has been shrouded in secrecy, and Administrator Watch intends to shed some much needed light on how Baird’s new super-sized councils are being run.

Greens MP and Local Government Spokesperson David Shoebridge said:


“Administrator Watch is designed to shed some much needed light on how Baird’s handpicked Administrators are running their new super-councils.

“The Government’s shambolic forced amalgamation process has been shrouded in secrecy with elected representatives thrown out to allow Baird’s hand-picked appointees to run the expanded councils.

"Communities are not going to quietly lie down and accept the loss of local democracy, they are extremely angry at what has happened and they have every right to be.

"Administrator Watch allows the community to talk about what's going on and to restore some much-needed accountability.

“Right across the state communities are in open revolt against Mike Baird’s decision to sack their councils, take away their elected representatives and destroy their local democracy.

“Inaugural meetings in the Inner West and Mid Coast were shut down by protests against the new Administrators, from ordinary residents who didn’t choose and definitely did not vote for their new local "rulers".

“There is no evidence, no mandate and no democracy in any of the amalgamations that Baird has forced through, and his choice of administrators demonstrates this." Mr Shoebridge said
