Media alert: Forced council amalgamations rejected in big anti-Liberal
swing by North Sydney voters

The Greens claim that the substantial swing against the Liberal Party's
candidate in yesterday's by-election in North Sydney shows the real level
of community anger at the Baird government forced amalgamation agenda.

The NSW Liberals and Nationals are scheduled to take the next step on
council amalgamations in the coming weeks.  This result should force a
rethink of this unpopular plan.
