Greens Criticise Sell Off of Middle Head Parkland

Greens NSW MP and Spokesperson for the Environment, Dr Mehreen Faruqi MLC, has criticised the decision to allow a private company to develop the Middle Head parkland.

Dr Faruqi said:

"In 2001, The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust (SHFT) was established to preserve and protect heritage land and sites at Middle Head. This is a betrayal of that vision.

"This vital public space will be locked up and reserved for a private aged care facility, resulting in public being locked out.

"Not only will Sydney siders be cut off from green space, but a wealth of Indigenous and European heritage.

"This plan is a dangerous precedent risking the privatisation of further public parkland" she concluded.
