Royal Commission Extension Politically Motivated: Greens

Greens Deputy Leader and spokesperson on Employment and Workplace Relations Adam Bandt has criticised the government's extension of the Royal Commission into Trade Unions.

"Senator Brandis and the government are playing politics by extending the time and resources of the Royal Commission into Trade Unions." Mr Bandt said.

"Instead of directing the Royal Commission to look at allegations of corporate corruption, like construction companies bribing Saddam Hussein's regime, the Abbott government just throws more money at an inquiry into its political opponents."

"It is clear they want this to run as close to the next election as possible, while keeping corporate corruption out of the spotlight."
