Greens statement on Seniors Supplement

"The Australian Greens have not done a deal with the Government to support a new bill on the seniors supplement," Senator Rachel Siewert, Australian Greens spokesperson on family and community services said today.

"As I stated in my speech on the Social Services bills and in our dissenting report to the Senate Inquiry, there were a small number of measures in the bills that could be considered if they were put to the Parliament in their own right in a new bill.

"However, we are not prepared to accept a rushed, last minute approach as part of broader negotiations on a package of bills that fundamentally change our income support system and we reject them," Senator Siewert concluded.
