Don’t play politics with preschool in SA: Greens

South Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young has urged the state and federal governments to end their spat on preschool funding and work together to guarantee a minimum of 15 hours of preschool per week for every South Australian child.

“Preschool is extremely important and it shouldn’t get caught up in a political spat like this,” the Greens’ early childhood education spokesperson, Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said.

“I’ll be moving a motion in the Senate, calling for a guarantee form the government that every family in South Australia will have access to a minimum of 15 hours of preschool a week.

“I don’t care if you’re a state or federal politician or if you’re from the Labor or Liberal party. We need to work together to maintain universal access.

“Politicians have to work with the childcare and preschool sector to deliver the best outcomes for South Australian families.

“Universal access to preschool is crucial and the early education sector is definitely underfunded, but bickering like this won’t help anyone.”
