[Greens-Media] MEDIA ALERT: Gathering in support of Peter Fox

With the release of the report by the NSW Special Commission of Inquiry into child sexual abuse in the Hunter region, survivors, supporters and victims of abuse are holding a gathering in support of whistleblower Detective Chief Inspector Peter Fox.

WHEN:            10.30AM Saturday 31st May
WHERE:           Top of Martin Place near Macquarie St.
WHO:             Survivors, supporters and victims of abuse and Greens MP David Shoebridge.

"Survivors and ordinary Australians around the country reacted spontaneously and enthusiastically to the bravery of DCI Fox who put his career on the line for the sake of victims.

"It is an all too common outcome that the bravery of a whistleblower is lost when the institutions that are threatened turn their full resources on attacking their credibility.

"The very limited terms of reference of this Inquiry means it is a far from full picture of the actions of either the Church or police in the Hunter region.

"Peter Fox is warmly supported for his vital role in setting up this very significant inquiry."
