The Greens in the Western Suburbs kicked of their 2014 election campaign
with a celebration at their newly opened campaign headquarters known as
The Greenhouse.
"The Greenhouse will be bustling with volunteers right through to the
state election on November 29. The Greens continue to be the fastest
growing political party and its thanks to our grassroots community
support," said Greens MP for the Western Suburbs Colleen Hartland.
"We don't receive multi-million dollar corporate donations, which comes
with undue influence on the political process, but we do have the
community behind us."
"We're finding that people are shocked by the severity and devastation
being wreaked by the Abbott government. People are refusing to be
complacent; they are stepping up, getting active and contributing their
time and energy to make change, and are choosing to do it with the
Greens."
"It was a full house at the Change Starts Now party at The Greenhouse. The
150 attendees enjoyed solar power brewed beer and wine from reusable glass
bottles. Greens Leader Greg Barber spoke alongside Colleen Hartland MP and
Field Organisers Melanie Audrey and Luke Stickles. One of Melbourne's best
DJ's, DJ Mortisville, lent his support and set up a swinging dance floor."
"We're expecting many more community functions at this great events space.
All are welcome to drop by and join us," said Ms Hartland.
The Greenhouse is located at 83B Gamon Street Yarraville and will be the
Greens headquarters and events space for the Western Suburbs election
campaign. Opening Hours are 12noon - 8pm Tuesday to Thursday, 9am-5pm
Friday - Saturday. Sunday - Monday closed.
The Greens have pre-selected candidates for most seats within the Western
Metropolitan Region including Footscray (Rod Swift), Williamstown (Simon
Crawford), Altona (Chris de Bono), St Albans (Lisa Asbury), Sydenham (Alex
Schlotzer), Werribee (Bro Sheffield-Brotherton), Tarneit (Rohan Waring),
and Essendon (Ashley Waite). Candidates are yet to be pre selected for the
Lower House seats of Sunbury and Niddrie.
