The Greens today vowed to make the issue of CFS volunteers' cancer compensation equality one of the first tests of the Weatherill Labor minority Government when Parliament resumes.
Greens Industrial Relations spokesperson Tammy Franks MLC said: "In the last Parliamentary session it was only Labor party members of Parliament standing in the way of equal cancer compensation for CFS volunteer firefighters.
"In that Parliament the Greens' Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation (Protection for Firefighters) Bill was co-sponsored with the member for Frome, Mr. Geoff Brock. Mr Brock's commitment to CFS volunteer firefighter equality has been unwavering and the new Parliament will test the Government's resolve.
"Past months have keenly shown the worth of the CFS volunteer firefighters to our state, coming weeks will be a test of this new Government's true commitment to the regions in reality not just rhetoric." Ms Franks concluded.
