Greens NSW Transport Spokesperson to Visit Newcastle on Sunday

Greens NSW Transport Spokesperson, Dr Mehreen Faruqi MLC, will visit Newcastle on Sunday (23/3/2014) to meet with the community to discuss the truncation of the rail line, the problems with the proposed plan for light rail and the lack of community consultation, particularly with residents from towns around Newcastle, such as Maitland.

Dr Faruqi has been a frequent commentator on the Newcastle Rail issue and has been especially critical of the lack of community consultation and evidence by the O'Farrell Government when making the decision to truncate the line.

Dr Faruqi MLC is a Civil and Environmental engineer and a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Environmental Studies UNSW.

Dr Faruqi will be available for interview at Wickham Train Station from 2pm on Sunday, 20/3/2014
