Greens Pledge Better Bush Health Care
SA Greens Parliamentary Leader Mark Parnell MLC will push for better health services in country South Australia if re-elected at the upcoming state election.
Mr Parnell said people living in rural and regional areas too often missed out on preventative care for physical and mental health concerns.
"The Greens believe that every South Australian is entitled to the best health care possible, regardless of where they live or how much they earn," Mr Parnell said.
"We will restore funding to regional areas to promote health improvement programs tailored to local needs."
Mr Parnell said the SA Greens would also work with the Federal Greens, including Australian Greens spokesperson on mental health Senator Penny Wright, to address the lack of mental health services in country SA.
"Years of under-investment in rural mental health continues to cost lives in the bush," Mr Parnell said.
"During the Federal Election last year, the Greens unveiled a $550 million plan to build a healthier and stronger rural Australia, while the old parties were silent.
"I will use my role of representing all of South Australia in parliament's upper house to advocate for a better way in country health care," concluded Mr Parnell.
