Australia must actively pursue Gaza ceasefire – Greens

The Greens want the Australian Government to step up action in support of the UN Security Council’s call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

“We condemn the horrific escalation of violence that has resulted in the deaths of around 160 Palestinians including many children,” Greens Leader Christine Milne said.

“The Israeli Government’s bombing of Gaza and threats of a ground offensive puts the might of its military force against the Palestinian people.

“All sides must immediately agree to a ceasefire. This path of armed conflict is bloody and futile. It will further jeopardise a peaceful two-state solution.”
