Keep talking with us, Joe!
The Greens have welcomed Treasurer Hockey's remarks that the federal government is "happy to talk" on investing its $3 billion on infrastructure projects other than East West Link in Victoria.
"Victorians want infrastructure projects that are a sensible investment, and will actually reduce congestion and pollution," said the Greens spokesperson for transport and infrastructure Senator Janet Rice.
"We've got plenty of public transport projects that would be ready to go with the help of federal funding.
"The Treasurer is happy to talk, we're happy to talk, let's talk!"
Federal Member for Melbourne Adam Bandt MP said that the Victorian Election proved that Victorians want investment in public transport.
"Tony Abbott said the Victorian Election would be a referendum on the East West toll road. Well it's clear that Victorians have said a resounding no to that polluting project," said Mr Bandt.
"Melbourne has made history and elected its first Green into the Victorian lower house on a platform of stopping the East West toll road and investing in a 21st Century public transport network.
"Joe Hockey has the opportunity to shift the $3 billion of federal funding allocated to East West into public transport right now, creating jobs for Victorians and contributing to economic growth."
