Responding to a media report (Daily Telegraph 1 December 2014) of yet another proposed change to the WestConnex route, Greens MP Jamie Parker said it like the bad days of the NSW Labor Government where projects were announced then abandoned as if developed on the back of an envelope.
"This dramatic change of route to align with the City West Link demonstrates the Liberals have simply not done their homework before committing billions to a mega-road project," said Mr Parker.
"This toll road not only fails to deliver on long-term congestion reduction but it also threatens the air quality of nearby neighbourhoods with polluting exhaust stacks.
"The evidence is clear that instead of expensive tollways and tunnels that have been proven to induce more cars onto the road, public money should investing in a world class public transport system. It is integrated, accessible public transport that will make our beautiful city more liveable, socially just and more productive," said Mr Parker.
