Media alert
Stalled planning laws no guarantee of good outcomes
The decision of the NSW Government to defer its decision on the pro-developer and anti-environment NSW Planning Bills there will be a further 3 months for the community to voice its opposition. With both Labor and the Coalition voting to support the majority of these reforms it is more important than ever that there is a voice for the community and environment in the NSW Parliament:
WHEN: 1pm 28 November 2013
WHERE: Back of NSW Parliament House, Macquarie St Sydney
WHO: Greens NSW MP David Shoebridge
Greens MP and spokesperson for justice, David Shoebridge, said:
"The amended bill, which both Labor and the Coalition support, retains its strong pro-developer bias, yet the government is stubbornly demanding more.
"The Government is blaming the stalled bill on minor parties and community groups who have blocked him from imposing a developer free-for-all in NSW.
"Every day these Bills are not law, is a good day for communities and the environment in NSW.
"After two and a half years of consultation it is safe to say that the Planning Minister has achieved a historic failure of planning reform," Mr Shoebridge said.
