Greens MLC urges Coalition to lock down education funding
Media statement, Tuesday 26 November 2013.
Greens spokesperson for Education Lynn MacLaren has described a lack of clarity on funding by the Coalition to education in the state as 'completely unfair to teachers, parents and students'.
With Federal level funding hanging in the balance for schools in the State, Ms MacLaren explained how local schools were unable to finalise staffing and funding for the near future.
"It has been clear from the mass protests that teachers and parents are devastated at the idea of funding cuts for schools; now the Federal funding is uncertain and schools have no plan of action for the near future, the stress and anxiety surrounding this must be unbearable for all involved".
Having already fought alongside teachers and students to challenge funding cuts in the state, Ms MacLaren promised to continue her support.
"The Greens believe that the public education system should be properly government funded, all West Australians deserve an education, there should be no compromise in this. We will continue to fight".
