F2 to M3 motorway a lost opportunity to solve traffic congestion
The Greens have labeled the federal and NSW government's multi-million dollar funding of the F3 to M2 link as classic pork barrelling, putting Labor's electoral interests before real transport solutions.
Australian Greens transport spokesperson Senator Rhiannon said, "Once again federal Infrastructure Minister Anthony Albanese has reminded the public how close he is to the NSW Labor machine favouring big road infrastructure announcements to win votes.
"The task of moving freight and people through Sydney does not lie with a motorway tunnel. It is time to shift the millions this will rob from public transport infrastructure.
"Minister Albanese has signed up to NSW Labor's tunnel vision on solving Sydney's transport crisis.
"In the Minister's haste to win votes he is ignoring the real solutions of transporting more freight on rail.
"The answer to traffic congestion around West Pennant Hills is more public transport for passengers and freight.
"Under federal Labor four times more money has been spent on roads compared with public transport. A welcome budget on Tuesday would see this ratio reverse," Senator Rhiannon said.
