Public Leads Way on Rooftop Solar - Then Gets Blamed for Using it!

Greens WA spokesperson on Energy issues Robin Chapple MLC today repeated his criticism of the Government over its ongoing unnecessary investment in fossil fuel generators.

"Treasury reports that Western Power is $94m out of pocket due largely to the amazing rate of solar rooftop power installation by WA households.

"All electricity users will wind up chipping in to compensate Western Power - what a sick joke!

"Instead of continually forking out millions on their outdated fossil fuel plants, the government should have been well advanced down the road to the renewable energy future.

"The public know where the future of electricity generation lies - survey after survey records their overwhelming preference for renewable energy sources - with their accompanying reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

"Only the Greens, with our Energy 2029 plan for sensible, sustainable measures to make the switch to renewable energy, share this vision.

"This Government consistently panders to the fossil fuel industries, while barely bothering to look at renewable energy options and new technologies.
