ALERT: Support Volunteer Firefighters Too! Press Conference for Firefighters' Compensation Bill

CFS Executive Director Sonia St Alban will today pay tribute to the memory of a Country Fire Service volunteer, John Ames, who last year lost his battle with oesophageal cancer.
At a briefing for MPs today, Ms St Alban will join with other representatives from the Country Fire Service Volunteers Association (CFSVA) and Volunteering SA to endorse a Greens' compensation Bill to protect both career and volunteer firefighters who contract one of 12 specified cancers linked with their work.

Greens' Emergency Services and Volunteers spokesperson, Tammy Franks MLC, who will bring her Bill to a vote in the Upper House next week (on May 15), says the legislation differs from the Government's November announcement to protect paid firefighters and not South Australia's 13,500 CFS volunteers.
