Greens Drill Holes Through Canal Carving Plan

Today the Greens will call on the WA Government to abandon plans to carve canals into Point Peron. 

"On behalf of thousands of people who want a world class conservation park, I will ask the Barnett Government to honour a 1964 land use agreement with the Commonwealth," said South Metro Greens MLC Lynn MacLaren.

"Generations to come should benefit from protecting this area. The loss of public land and impacts on both the environment and community are a high price to pay for boat pens," she concluded. 

Debate on the Mangles Bay marina begins on the Greens motion in the Legislative Council this afternoon between 3 and 415.
