[Greens-Media] Greens warn of huge public backlash to Westlink

Greens MP for the Western Suburbs Colleen Hartland was warned of a huge 
public backlash if Labor attempt to dump the Westlink tollway on the inner 
West community.

"If Labor thinks they can dump the ridiculously costly, noisy and dirty 
Westlink tollway on the Western Suburbs, they're in for a shock. We've 
fought in the thousands in the past, we'll do it again and we'll win" said 
Colleen Hartland.

"History shows that the Western Suburbs community strongly opposes 
Westlink. We ran a relentless campaign to stop Westlink and only rested 
when the Baillieu government took it to the Eastern suburbs." 

"I have 2,314 people signed up to my Westlink campaign. They have fought 
against this proposal in the past and they'd be ready to start again at 
the drop of a hat."

"Whether it is in the East or in the West, these proposals are economic 
duds. It's not value for money and it won't address traffic congestion."

"The community wants these billions spent on urgently needed services such 
as hospitals, schools and public transport infrastructure." 

"This government was elected on a promise to fix public transport, not 
build a tunnel tollway. They should get on with what they promised."

"Public transport is a much cleaner, smarter & cheaper alternative to 
solve our transport problems and this is what the community want. " said 
Ms Hartland.
