NSW Labor reforms can’t turn back time
*
Greens lead senate candidate for NSW Cate Faehrmann has said while reform
of NSW Labor was welcome it should have been acted on years ago.

"NSW Labor lost touch with its grassroots membership a long time ago. The
people of NSW have every right to be very angry with Labor because they
have been let down by people that, for many years, they put their faith
in," said Ms Faehrmann.

"The community of the Bylong Valley, who have been fighting the Mt Penny
mine proposal, has borne the brunt of what can happen when elected
representatives and the Party they belong to lose touch with the people.

"And there are communities across NSW who are still fighting decisions,
particularly in relation to coal and gas projects, made by the previous
Labor government that are wrecking communities and only benefiting an elite
few.

“They will want to know what difference reform of NSW Labor can make at
this stage of the game. Unfortunately no reform process, no matter how
genuine it is, can turn back time.

"The people of NSW will be waiting with bated breath to see if this latest
announcement about reforming NSW Labor will see real and lasting change.
The people who hold the power within NSW Labor will obviously be reluctant
to cede it, but the only way that Labor can see real reform is if power
within the Party is returned to the grassroots," said Ms Faehrmann.
