Clover's contribution will be missed

Greens NSW MP and electoral spokesperson John Kaye congratulated the
retiring MP for Sydney Clover Moore for her years of service and condemned
the O'Farrell government for forcing a by-election onto the people of
Sydney.

Dr Kaye said: "In her 24 years in parliament, Clover Moore has been a key
contributor to the state-wide debates about sexuality rights, animal
welfare, protecting apartment dwellers, planning and the transition to a
low carbon economy.

"While we have often disagreed with Clover on other matters, there is much
to be celebrated in her contribution to state politics.

"I have worked with Clover on strata title issues. The Council she has led
has provided inspiration in the reduction of its carbon footprint and
providing safer options for cycling.

"Her resignation was forced on the people of Sydney by an O'Farrell
government determined to clip the wings of a powerful voice for her
community.

"As the voters of Sydney are forced back to the polls, the Greens will be
reminding them that their time has been wasted by Barry O'Farrell's  power
play," Dr Kaye said.
